Tranzly vs WPML

The comparison

The comparison as Tranzly wrote it.

WPML is a long-standing paid WordPress translation plugin that sells yearly plans with a set number of AI-translated words. Tranzly is free on WordPress.org with unlimited languages and never counts words: you translate on your own DeepL or AI account.

Tranzly's strengths

  • A free edition with unlimited languages, translated addresses, hreflang and sitemaps.

  • No word limits: you pay your translation service directly instead of buying word allowances.

  • At most two extra database queries per translated page and no cookie, so caches keep working.

  • Tranzly Pro imports WPML's languages, translations and translated texts, and can undo the import.

  • Paid plans include a yearly allowance of AI-translated words, so no separate translation account is needed.

  • Offers its own translation engine as well as DeepL, Google Translate and Microsoft Translator.

Shared ground
  • Both store each translation as real WordPress content with its own address.

  • Both connect to DeepL, Google and Microsoft machine translation.

Differences
  • WPML has no free version; Tranzly's free edition is on WordPress.org.

  • WPML's paid plans include 22,500 or 45,000 AI-translated words (none on the Blog plan); Tranzly has no word limit.

  • Tranzly lets AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT translate a site through 73 tools.
