What it is

Bruno is an open-source API client that stores collections as plain-text files in your repository, enabling seamless version control and collaboration through Git. It supports REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and Websocket APIs with no cloud sync, no account requirements, and no login needed.

Designed as a developer-first alternative to cloud-based platforms, Bruno runs locally on your machine with complete data privacy. Collections are human-readable YAML files that can be branched, diffed, reviewed, and merged using your team's existing Git workflow. The tool integrates with your IDE and terminal, and works within your existing security perimeter.

Bruno is built on OpenCollection, an open standard for API collections, and provides enterprise-ready features including SSO/SAML, SCIM provisioning, and integration with secret managers like Vault, Azure Key Vault, and AWS.

Does Bruno sync data from my app?

No. Bruno is an offline API client with no cloud component for syncing or storage of work done in the app, and there is no concept of an account or login.

How does collaboration work?

Bruno natively integrates with any Git provider including GitHub, BitBucket, GitLab, and SVN. For teams that don't use Git daily, Bruno offers an easy to use GUI-based system for checking Collections in and out, pulling changes, and submitting PRs.

Is Bruno SOC 2 Type II compliant?

Yes, Bruno is independently audited and SOC 2 Type II compliant.

Can Bruno work within enterprise security policies?

Yes. Bruno runs inside your existing security perimeter and automatically inherits device policies, MDM policies, repo permissions, network controls, and data residency rules that are already configured. It does not require a new cloud tenant, admin console, or create new attack surfaces.
