Your revenue figure: how to add, change or remove it

Revenue you report yourself, for one calendar month, in US dollars - labelled as such wherever it shows.

Updated

Why add revenue

You can publish your company's revenue for a single calendar month, in US dollars. The figure comes from you, so it is always shown as self-reported. Anyone who owns or manages the company's listing can report the figure. Most listings have none, and that is fine.

Entering the figure

Head to /account/revenue - you need to be signed in. Type the amount, choose which month it is, and report it - the proof link field can stay empty.

Limits

The month can be the current one or any month from the last two years, never a future month. Only our staff see the proof link; it is never published. If you add a proof link, it must be a public page starting with https://. The amount must be above zero; separators and a dollar sign are fine.

Display

The display reads like this: the amount, self-reported, the month, and when it was reported. Because it is the company's number, it is shared by all the sites the company is listed on. The figure appears on your listing and on the revenue leaderboard.

Leaderboard

The revenue leaderboard at /leaderboards/revenue keeps verified and self-reported figures in separate tables. None of it affects community votes or the billboard. The verified option is live: details are in the section below.

Later changes

To correct it, save a new figure; to take it down, press Remove. Each change is recorded in the listing's history.

Verified figures

Verified revenue is set up from /account/revenue/verified once you are signed in, by the listing's owner or a manager. We take the figure from your payment account, or check it against a statement. A Stripe restricted key with read access, or a Paddle key with read access, lets us read your revenue for each finished month. Other providers (PayPal, Lemon Squeezy, Gumroad and the rest) work by statement: upload it, and a member of our team checks it before anything is shown.

We match the connected account to your listing automatically: Stripe by its display name or card statement text, Paddle by its approved checkout domain. No match means a member of our team checks it before it shows, and you hear back either way.

We add up your verified sources for the last finished month and show that one total, marked verified, with the sources listed beneath it and the last-checked date. Your listing shows it rather than the self-reported figure, and /leaderboards/revenue lists it in the verified table. If your account takes another currency, the month's figure is converted to US dollars at the official ECB average rate for that month, with a note saying which currency it came from.

Keys are stored encrypted and only their last four characters are ever shown again; a Stripe key that could change anything or read your customers is refused (for Paddle, tick only the Read boxes). Connected accounts are read again about once a day. Disconnect a source at /account/revenue/verified at any time and its figure is no longer shown (delete the key in Stripe or Paddle as well).

Questions people ask

Do you check the number?
Not the self-reported figure: it is shown as self-reported, with its month and date. For a figure we read or check ourselves, use verified revenue at /account/revenue/verified.
Is it a yearly figure?
No. It is the revenue for one calendar month.
Does it show on my other listings?
Yes. There is one figure per company, so every site the company is listed on shows it.
Can my revenue be verified?
Yes. At /account/revenue/verified connect Stripe or Paddle with a read-only key, or upload a monthly statement from PayPal, Lemon Squeezy, Gumroad or another provider for our team to check.
